Music Listening Circle — classical edition
How music evokes imagery and memory, and how to use it deliberately to shift your own state.
Groups and circles
Group sessions are a low-commitment way to try this work. No therapy history or musical background is needed, and coming once is a perfectly reasonable thing to do.
Format: In-person only — Berkeley and the San Francisco Bay Area. Group GIM and the Integration Circle are not offered online.
Coming up
Booking is handled by Berkeley Alembic through Momence. If a date is full, email me and I'll let you know about the next one.
Monthly
An evening session. We talk briefly as a group, then you lie down and listen to a programmed sequence of music. Afterward there's time to draw, and anyone who wants to share what came up can do so.
This is how most people first encounter the work I do.
Not group therapy or treatment for a diagnosed condition. Not hypnosis. Not a music lesson — you don't play or sing. Not a good starting point during an acute crisis. If you are in crisis, call or text 988.
Third Wednesday, monthly
For people who have had a significant experience they are still making sense of — a ceremony, a ketamine protocol, a meditation retreat, a birth, a death they were present for.
Most integration circles are talking circles. This one uses music and imagery, which in my experience gets closer to the register the original experience occurred in.

Violin & Ambient Electronics
A 90-minute guided journey of ambient electronics, live violin, and poetry — space for deep rest and inner transformation.
About the sound journey →On music and the mind, and what happens during an altered state. Available for organizations and community groups.
Many people come to a group and leave it there, which is fine. If something opens up that you'd like to take further, individual sessions are where that happens, with music chosen for you specifically rather than for a room.
What individual work involves →Email me a couple of sentences about what you're looking for and I'll tell you which one fits.
